Community Pillar Director

Serina is a human rights lawyer with a background in refugee, anti-discrimination, and public law. She has worked with Victorian Legal Aid, was a Ministerial Advisor on Women for the ACT Government and a Senior Lawyer and Policy Advisor to the Victorian Government on the implementation of the Charter of Human Rights.

Serina has led NGOs in Australia and the UK, including the Queensland association of the global women’s rights association: the YWCA, where she led UN engagement and state campaigns.

As director of award-winning social enterprise and media production company: Hi8us South UK, Serina introduced a youth-led approach to empower young people to create media as a catalyst for change in their own lives and communities. Serina’s volunteer work includes roles as Vice-Chair of UK legal service Rights of Women, Deputy-Chair of Diaspora Action Australia, Victorian Convenor and National Board Member of Australian Lawyers for Human Rights, and volunteer lawyer with Women’s Legal Service Victoria.

Serina was recently selected for the Advocacy Fellowship Program with the Centre for Australian Progress for leaders in Australian civil society.
