Greg Tucker is the Chair of Claims Funding Australia, a wholly owned subsidiary of Maurice Blackburn Lawyers. He is based in the organisation’s head office in Melbourne. Greg is an Australian Institute of Company Directors Fellow and holds Bachelor of Arts and Master of Laws degrees from Monash University.

Greg had a long career with Maurice Blackburn, stepping down after being its CEO for 12 years, to take on the role of CFA Chair in 2017. He brings academic research, knowledge of financial markets as well as a passion for the law to his work. Greg started his legal career in commercial law at Darvall McCutcheon and worked at Maurice Blackburn & Co as a consultant in the late 1980s. While he was Professor and Head of the Banking and Finance Department at Monash University, Greg took a sabbatical to work as a research consultant at the OECD in Paris for two years, producing official reports relating to privacy, information security, and electronic commerce. He is also the author of several books and many academic journal articles.

Greg has also worked in the financial services sector as a senior bank analyst for ANZ McCaughans and then as CEO of the listed stockbrokers and financial planners, the Noall Group. He has also been a director of Mornington Peninsula Hospital and a Victorian geospatial science company.

Greg was appointed as the first non-executive director of Maurice Blackburn in 2004 – the role he relinquished the following year to lead the firm as its inaugural CEO. Under Greg’s leadership, Maurice Blackburn trebled in size to more than 1,000 staff members. Access to justice was central to its success, with Maurice Blackburn becoming Australia’s pre-eminent social justice law firm, and an enviable place to work, attracting accolades such as Law Institute of Victoria Law Firm of the Year.

Greg has had a long association with the asylum seeker cause and, in particular, with providing legal and support services to the ASRC through the firm over many years.
