The ASRC Material Aid program directly provides access to funding for nappies, and Myki top-ups to ensure our clients can travel to access services and supports in their community – two essential needs that can otherwise be hard to afford. We also work closely with partner organisations to ensure clients can access clothing, bedding, furniture and household items in their local area. By supporting the Material Aid program, you’ll be making a difference to people seeking asylum, ensuring that they have the essential material items they need.
ASRC Material Aid currently provides nappies to over 100 children a month, and Myki support to over 30 people every week, most of whom have no income and no work rights.
Being able to care for your family and access services in your local community is essential. Every donation makes a difference.
What Items Do We Accept?
Gift cards for nappies. Gift cards for Coles and Woolworths allow our clients to select the nappy brand that best suits their child. The most useful card denominations are $20, $30, $50, $60, and $100.
Buy a gift card online and have it delivered to:
Asylum Seeker Resource Centre
Att: Material Aid
PO Box 2381, Footscray VIC 3011
Online giftcards can be sent to material_aid@asrc.org.au
Make A Financial Donation
You can also support our work with a financial donation which allows us to continue purchasing the essential items funded in our Material Aid program, like Myki Top-ups and supermarket gift cards for nappies.
What Items Do We Not Accept?
Due to capacity and storage constraints, ASRC is unable to accept any donated items from individuals. Instead, we work with partner organisations who assist our clients with their Material Aid needs. By donating to any of the organisations listed below, you can be assured that your valuable donation will still be going to assist people seeking asylum or other people in need.

“I can’t erase racism by myself. It’s only if we all come together to accept that there is an issue and work together that we can make a change.”
Prudence Melom, founder and CEO of E-RACED
“Growing in a refugee camp and experiencing hardship from a young age I felt very misunderstood among my peers in Australia. Kids my age did not understand why my skin was darker, they didn’t understand why my accent was a little different and they didn’t understand why I came to Australia.
“I was inspired to start E-RACED after experiencing first hand the effects of racism in this country and the power of sharing my story to completely change people’s attitudes. Never underestimate the power of one-on-one interactions and sharing stories to change the world.”
