ASRC Advocacy Priorities
The following four areas have been identified as ASRC’s priority advocacy areas for 2022-2025, following consultations with refugees and people seeking asylum. The papers include relevant information, statistics and possible mechanisms for change.
Australia is an international outlier, keeping refugees in detention with no effective independent oversight, minimum standards or timeframes. Read more
As a priority, the ASRC will support refugee-led campaigns by adding value and support where needed. This includes, but is not limited to, strategic advice, promotion on social media, hosting calling parties, campaign collateral design and budget. Any role for the ASRC’s advocacy to play will be led by the wishes and requests of refugee-led campaigns.
Refugees and people seeking asylum in Australia should have permanent protection and a clear resettlement pathway. Read more
