The Music Group meets every Wednesday evening at the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre in Footscray. With people as culturally varied as the instruments they play, the jam sessions are a melting pot of sounds, spirit, and stories as members share music and songs from their homelands. Though each come with different circumstances, playing music is what brings them together.
The Music Group is an initiative of the Social and Community Development Program at the ASRC. It has over 200 participants and gave a number of performances last year. Of special note were the performances at the Light in Winter Festival at Federation Square and at La Mama Theatre.
